Swe3T SixT3en BirtHDAy

It's been 3 months since my 1st blog...... This is probably the most interesting day in my life so far............

Bzzzzz…….. My phone buzzed under my pillow……. Lazily, I took my phone from under my pillow and got myself a sms. It was already 11pm nearly 12, who would send me an sms this late? I wondered……

I read the message and then only realized that it was an sms from my friend, Yap Zhi Jiun from Victoria Hall. She sent me a happy birthday message. How touching….. 1st birthday wish for my sweet sixteen birthday.

At 4.53am, another message buzzed from my phone under my pillow. This time, another birthday sms from Issac Leong, a guy from Victoria Hall, he said in his sms that he has got nothing to say but HAPPY BIRTHDAY….. lol….

I woke up at 6.05am to prepare for school. I went for a bath and wash myself up. When I came back to my room, another sms buzzed on my table. Another birthday sms form Geok Lin. And again the usual happy birthday and stuff……..

After I’m set for school, I went to the canteen to have my breakfast. Just when I was eating, Eu June, a friend from Chung Ling was the 4th person to wish me happy birthday. Subsequently, Zhan Ming and Jun Hong, roommates wished me happy birthday when we were eating together, that makes 6 people who wished me happy birthday.

I went to school as usual and sat through the lessons until recess. During recess, my 7th guy wished me. Jerome Loh, my other roommate suddenly remembered my birthday. After school when we were decorating our classroom for the Chinese New Year Competition, Ren Ke, a PRC scholar from our school wished me. He was the 1st of them to remember my birthday……..

After school was our English bridging course. After the course, Ms. Goh, our teacher in charge told us to meet her at the front porch. After that, she brought down two cakes to celebrate the birthdays in January. Ms. Goh, wished me, was followed by Wang ZiRen, Wu Yan, Duan ChengYao and Cheng YuJie who made up 12 people who wished me on my sweet sixteen birthday. We ate the cake with laughter and joy. After finished eating, it was already 5pm. We all thanked Ms. Goh and went back to the hostel.

I opened my room door and found a green envelope lying on the floor. The letter was addressed to me. Weird…. Who would send me a letter… I wondered. I anxiously opened the letter and found a birthday card in it. The card was quite steam but I instantly know who sent it. I recognized the hand writing…… Below the card stated only two names KEJ & OJI. Aahaaa.. bingo I confirmed who it was…… it was Eu June for sure………

While I was looking at the birthday card, someone knocked on the door…. Jun Hong opened the door and in stepped an officer who claims to be a Moe Officer. He looked around and said, “This room is much cleaner than the others!” After that, he asked his collogues to have a look at our room. They all agreed that our room is much cleaner than the other rooms…… Woooohoooooo, what an achievement.

After that, before dinner, I checked my phone to find myself 2 sms. 1 is form my aunt that sent me the sms at 11.04am and the other one was from my family that was sent to me at 1.24pm from Penang. I was at school then and did not reply their messages……..

I went for dinner with Jun Hong and Jerome. When I was lining up, I saw Jing Yi, one of the guys from the card….. then it was him who was my 13th person to wish me…. How touching……….

Dinner went on as usual, 3 of us talking but basically crap was being spoken ………lol……

After dinner, while I was heading back towards my room, Yong Heng, a guy from Zhong Hua, made the 14th person to wish me happy birthday. Although I only know him for a few weeks, but…….. How touching………..

Eu June smsed me just when I was about to sit down at my desk. He asked me to go look for him in his room. I went to his room, not knowing why….. I knocked on the door and Eu June came to open the door, then he pushed a bunch of newspaper into my hands and closed the door, without a word. I curiously open the whole bunch of newspaper and found an Oreo box inside. Inside the Oreo box was a green pouch. The pouch was quite nice. How nice of him to give me the pouch for a birthday present…..

I went back to my room and wanted to start writing this blog. Just when I was about to start, a knock on the door stopped me. I opened the door and found Yong Xiang standing in the doorway. Beside him, Yong Heng was holding something behind his back. Yong Xiang then wished me happy birthday and beckoned Yong Heng to give me what he was holding. Yong Heng gave me a green paper bag with something inside. Yong Xiang said that he had not forgotten my birthday and he bought the present on his way back from school. Thanks man!!!!!!!!

At night, Jerome and Jun Hong gave me a surprise. They bought a Black Forest cake for my 2nd birthday celebration. Jerome invited most of the PRCs and my best school buddies from Penang, Yong Xiang and Eu June. Other than that, Jun Tong from Anderson made the 16th person to wish me on my sweet sixteen birthday. Woooohooooo……. 16 best mates wished me on my sweet sixteen birthday……. Thanks guys…………

TO EVERYBODY WHO REMEMBERED AND CELEBRETED MY BIRTHDAY,

THANK YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!

YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!

22th October 2008

Woke up again by the irritating voice of a cock from my roommates’ hand phone. Giiiiissssssshhhhhh…… damn irritating, thinking of throwing it out, but it is the only way we can jump out of our beds without getting ourselves late.
We woke up at 6am, bath and went straight to the canteen for breakfast. We then went back to our rooms to get ready for the medical examination. We were greeted by another MOE officer at the lobby. We made our way through the apartments and went to the main street to take a bus.
With the EZLink card in hand, we patiently waited for the bus and boarded the bus number133 to the main bus interchange few miles away. On the way, I got a little drowsy because of the late night sleep. There were three Indian Ladies in front of my seat. They were mumbling and chatting loudly in Tamil and English. They spoke in their Indian axon which I cannot make up what they are saying.
I slept for almost the whole journey, but woke up when we arrive at our destination. We made our way out of the main bus interchange into the busy Singaporean roads. On the way, one of my roommates who is also an Indian explained to me what the three Indian ladies were chatting about. According to him, one of the Indian girl said that she slept when answering the questions during ‘O’ Levels, she suddenly woke up and realized that she have not finished her exam and wrote only ‘I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DO’ on her papers…… Giiiissshhhh, got bless her for her ‘O’ Levels. The other Indian girl said that she took her boyfriends hand phone and used it until zero credit, and now, she pays her depts. Little by little to her boyfriend. Hahahahaha……… The remaining girl however said that her father is her step-father and said that her father got how many wives and blah blah blah………… (not supposed to no what they are talking) haha…. Every girl had their story to tell……….. zzzzz……
We made our way to the clinic a few blocks away. There are two main types of clinics, the polyclinic and the panel clinic. After visiting the polyclinic, the MOE will pay for everything whereas you must pay $5 after every visit to the panel clinic. The main difference is that the queue in poly clinics is much longer than in panel clinics.
First, we waited outside one of the panel clinic to undergo the examination. We filled in the forms and waited outside for our turn. We joked and talked while waiting. Soon, it was my turn to do the examination. I went in; the nurse gave me a bottle and asked me to pee in it for a urine examination. I waited for my turn to go into the toilet and peed into the bottled (sparing the process). Then went to the counter submitted my bottle of pee and sited on the chairs provided. After about 10 minutes, one of the nurses called my name and beckoned me to go in one of the clinic’s room. She asked me to stand on a weighing machine and took down my weight as well as my height and asked me to step out of the room. She handed me a piece of card and asked me to close one eye and vice versa for the vision examination. The examination went on perfectly, my eye site was 6/6 which is perfecto……… Then, the nurse asked me to take a sit and told me that she needed to extract me blood examination. She strapped a strap on my left arm and hit it so that my vein came floating up. She then pocked a 1½ inch needle into the vein with an opening to allow a small tube to attach the needle. Just as she attached the tube, fresh dark red blood came spurting into the bottle. She took about half a tube before taking the needle out of my veins, ouchhhhhhh that really hurts.
After waiting for another 5 minutes, it was my turn to see the doctor. I knocked and went in. The doctor, who I don’t know his name, is a young chap with spiky hair. The doctor examined my pulse as well as my heartbeat. The doctor then asked me to lie down on the examination bed. He then pressed a few spots of my tummy and said that I’m in tip top condition. He then handed me some paper and asked me to go to the polyclinic just opposite the panel clinic. I went in and made my way straight to the X-ray department as told by the doctor. I handed the receptionist the papers and waited on the seats provided. After approximately 15 minutes of waiting, I’m finally on my way for my first X-ray. I went in the room and the doctor asked me to take off my shirt and wait in the X-ray room. The doctor then asked me to face a machine and took and X-ray picture of my chest. After that I’m excused. The doctor then handed me the copy of my X-ray picture and asked me to hand it over to the nurse from the penal clinic.
I made my way once again out of the polyclinic to the panel clinic. I handed the copy of my chest X-ray to the nurse and she said that I’ve done all the examination and I may leave. One of the MOE officers told me to wait at the coffee shop near the clinic. She also recommended me to buy the curry puff inside the coffee shop. A regular curry puff cost me $1.10 as well as my first dollar in Singapore. Yay, I’ve finally spend a dollar. Lol.
We waited for about half an hour for the others to finish their medical check-up before making a move back to the hostel. We went back to the bus interchange. The MOE officer also told us to top-up our EZLink card. The top-up machine accepts only ATM cards so I have to use my ATM card for the first time. Haha. I added an extra amount of $10 to my card which makes it a total amount of $14.37. We then lined up and boarded the bus number133 back to the hostel.
We were running late when arrive at the hostel. We had our lunch in a rush and walked quickly to the Kallang Community Hall for our Bridging Course. The course went on smoothly although we were a little late. As usual Mr. Lim told a few jokes, gave us a few Fun Maths questions for students to win some prizes and learned Sec 1 and Sec 2 maths. We learned graphs of linear fractions and graphs and quadratic equations. Compared to our Form 3 maths, this kind of maths has slightly higher standard than our Malaysian maths even though we were studying Sec 1 and Sec 2 maths. Haiz……….
We went back to the hostel had a bath, and took dinner. After that we did our maths’ homework. It was like a ton of graphical homework. Haiz……. We did our homework till 10pm then online until 11pm. Nothing much, then it’s time for sleep………… big day tomorrow.

21th October 2008

Woke up at 5.45am with the help of my roommate’s chicken ring tone. Haha…. One chicken woke up the whole kampong. Haha. I woke up, had breakfast and got ready for briefing. MOE officers came to give us and our parents some briefing. The officer gave us stickers with our names on it, play childish games…….. lame. After that, the officer gave us a free EZLink card, yay! It’s for public transport either a bus or the MRT. Haha. Besides that, we also applied for our student card. One of the next door roommate say that there is nearly discounts for almost everything even at McD. Haha.
We had lunch at about 12.00pm and went for our first Mathematics Bridging Course at 1pm. We walked to the Bridging Centre near the hostel at about 12.45pm with the company of both of the MOE officers. It’s about a 15 minute walk to the centre, a few blocks away from our hostel.
After the twists and turns around the apartment on the way to the centre, we finally reached the centre. The MOE officers were also not too sure exactly where the centre is. They phoned the teacher in charge and he came down to greet us up the centre. Mr.Lim, the teacher who teaches us maths, is an interesting man. He tells jokes to amuse everyone, but he himself was the one not smiling, lol. Some students think that he tries to tell his jokes but he doesn’t know what he is talking. Haha. Our first Maths Bridging Course wasn’t too bad. Mr. Lim even award students who can get the Fun Maths questions correctly. He said that we should have fun solving it but also needs to use logic since it is maths. We also had a pre-test which lasted for 2 hours……….
We finished our first course at about 5.15pm. The seniors from our hostel came to fetch us back to the hostel. At about 6pm we reached our hostel, took a bath, and prepared for dinner. Dinner was at about 6.20pm, the dinner prepared today was not too bad, with a bowl of soup. Yuuummmmmm, haven’t drink soup since I came to Singapore. Haha.
After dinner, we were free…….. We took out our laptops and gathered at the room next door. It was like 5-6 laptops all at one go, it looks like a cyber café from outside since it is accompanied by air-conditioners, games and Online Messengers. Haha. Syiok looorrrrr. At about 10pm, we were frustrated with the slow connection caused by the all-at-one-go laptops. After that, we all moved to the canteen. Since the canteen is one of the hotspots of the hostel, the connection is damn fast even with 9-10 people using at the same time.
We used our laptops until 11.00pm when everybody decided to go to bed. We kept everything and went back to our respective rooms. We slept almost immediately because we went through a tough day, with all the maths jamming our brains and the excitement hanging around………….

20th October 2008

Woke up about 7.30am. Got to go to Toa Bayou to open my bank account. That morning, my cousin uncle bought a SingTel simcard for my phone. Haha. Got a Singapore line d. haha.
Sitting in my cousin uncle’s car on the way sending cousin jr to his kindergarten. Haha. Then we are on our way to Toa Bayou or whatever it is called. First, we made our way to the POSB (POS Bank-a government bank) to open a new account for the scholarship. Besides that, I too got an ATM card, take out money when I whan, where I whan. Muakakakakakakakaka!!!!!!!!!! First Atm card. Lol. Haha.
After the bank-opening-process, we went to a nearby food court to consume some local food. It wasn’t bad but big portions are served. Unlike Malaysia, haiz……… kiam until dun wan kiam. Haha. Even prawn mee also giving prawn shells. Typical Malaysian….. haha.
After that we made our way to McNair Lodge. I fell asleep in the car. So never knew what we came across during the journey. After all the twists and turns around the lodge, we finally arrive at the lodge in one piece. Haha. Joking joking…… we arrived at the lodge and were welcome with warm hands. Haha. I registered and checked into my room. After loading down the luggage, I met my roommates.
My roommates are Sim Jun Hong, Tinesh, Nicolas, and Isaac. Good mates. Haha. Then there is mates from the room next door, Irwin, Ravi (Chindian), Jerome and Zhan Ming. Damn good mates, jokers, steam cars…… and the list goes on. Haha. They joke, they steam and they rock. hahahahaha. After checking in and putting down my stuff, my mom and I went around the hostel. Examining every inch of the hostel. We also met some friendly seniors. Damn friendly, Eric and Patrick (JC in St. Andrews). Eric helped very much, told us he systems here and also about renewing our scholarships at the end of the year and is always on standby mode to help. Haha. Cool guy.
Since we still have time before dinner, we went to a place near the hostel, walking distance. We went for a walk and ate some local delights. After that it was time to return to the hostel. We chatted along the way, listening to mom’s safety precaution, mom’s warning and blah blah blah…..
At about 6pm, it was time for dinner. By the time, mom went home with my relatives, leaving me alone. Haha. But nvm mine. We ate dinner with jokes accompanying us. Haha. How good. Then we went in to our rooms and learn more about each other. Haha. Jokes again…….
After that we were asked to go to the canteen to attend a briefing. It was about the rules in the hostel, do’s and don’t’s and blah blah blah…….. boring. But luckily it was short, if not teruk d lor. Haha.
After the briefing, we went back to our rooms and online till 11pm. We exchanged things, helped each other out and much more.
At 12.00pm, lights out and we went to bed. Tough day…………....

Haha… first time blogging. (19th October 2008)

Today, I was supposed to participate in the city run. Due to some last minute preparation, I missed the run. My friends were so disappointed. Haiz, nothing can be done, sorry guys. Haha.
I woke up on 9.00am to celebrate my brother’s birthday. Haha. Then, one of my friends came to my house to say goodbye. Haha. Such a nice friend. After he left, there are two other friends of mine who called up to wish me luck and of course goodbye. So nice.
After that, I called and smsed my other friends to say goodbye. Haha. I’m not that good at saying goodbyes but….. that’s the best I can do. Haha.
At about 1.00pm, I went to my grand’s place. They’ve got nothing to say, just the same old speech everybody gave throughout the week (bye… take care…. All the best…. Got to be independent…… etc) blah blah blah. Haha.
I arrived at the Penang International Airport at about 2.30pm. My brother and two of my aunts went to send me off. My mom however went with me down to Singapore. We got on the plane at about 3pm. Flew for 50 minutes and reached KLIA about 4pm for a plane transit. Damn bad service for an airline. We had to walk a distant before reaching the arrival hall. Haiz. Bad service.
After the usual check-in and blah blah blah, we waited at the departure hall at 5pm. I took out my laptop turned on WiFi and walah maximum connection. Damn fast connection. I turned on msn and chatted with Eu June. With him keeping me company, I easily went pass through time and soon it’s time to board the plane to Singapore.
By the time we got up the plane, it is already nearly 7.30pm. We waited for 4 passengers but they got on plane shortly after the announcement. We took off under a rainy weather. Although the flight was a bit rough but we arrived at Singapore 15minutes earlier than scheduled. FINALLY!!!! TOUCH DOWN AT SINGAPORE. Waaaahoooo!!!!!!
A distant relative of mine met us at the arrival hall. They greeted us with warm hands. Haha. I do not really know them, never even saw them before. Haha. They drove us through the busy streets of Singapore highway. It took us approximately half an hour to reach the outskirts of Singapore.
We reached my relative’s house at about 9.00pm. Went down makan and then up again, took a bath, and started online. SINGAPORE REALLY ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even the slowest internet connection is 3Mbps and there is even as high as 11Mbps. Gissssshhhhhhh. In Malaysia, the fastest streamyx connection is only 2Mbps………… Haiz……Malaysia……..
Haha. This is my first time blogging and also my first blog. Lol.
Please leave a comment after visiting my blog, I’ll appreciate that. Thank you.
